Rules of Soylent Green

Please read the following rules & guidelines carefully. If you are applying to the guild and feel that you can’t follow these rules, then please don’t bother going any further. Your stay with Soylent Green won’t last very long anyway.

Soylent Green is a raiding guild. It means that as a guild, our purpose is to raid endgame content. (10 and 25 mans).

It does not mean that we are a hardcore guild who is going to raid 40 hours a week and make the game a second job for its members. We are here to have fun, down bosses together, and to experience all the content of the game.

However, even if we aren't "hardcore", that doesn't mean that when we raid all you need to do is show up. Members are expected to have reliable attendance and everyone is expected to do what they can on their own to improve their character and performance. There are several responsibilities that all members share, namely:

We use the online signups on our website to prepare groups/etc. for raids in advance. Our current raid schedule is Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 7:30-11:00 pm server time. Everyone is expected to be available to raid for at least 75% of the nights. Initiates are expected to be available to raid for 100% of the scheduled nights.

If we do not have enough people signed up for a raid by the night before it's going to happen, the raid will be cancelled. If you can’t make it on a raid night, you are still expected to sign up as “Not attending” on the calendar. If you expect to be late, then you should indicate it when signing up and the time that you estimate being available. Not indicating a late time or not signing up at all will be considered as being absent.

Also, please indicate in your signup if you plan on attending, but will need to leave early. Leaving early without prior notice can leave the raid hanging without a replacement. Real life emergencies understandably happen, but leaving raids prematurely on a regular basis is frowned upon.

BE THERE
When you are signed up for a raid, it is expected that you will be online and on your main when invites are going out. If you are not on your main when invites are going out, your spot will be given to someone else. Invites will go out 15 minutes before the scheduled raid start time. It is also recommended that you get to the instance before invites go out so that we don't have to spend a lot of time summoning.

Being waitlisted does NOT mean that you don’t have to show up at all. People on the waitlist are important to replace anyone that no-shows. You are still expected to be on time and available when you are waitlisted.
The only thing worse than not signing up is signing up AND NOT showing up after being approved.

Unfortunately, everyone that signs up can’t/won’t always be approved to raid. The rate of approvals for a person depends on the classes needed for a fight as well as their past attendance reliability, performance, preparation, and attitude.

GEAR INDEPENDENCE
Make sure your gear is the best available to you. Yes, that epic that you’re waiting on may be an awesome item but there is no guarantee it will ever drop. If you can craft items that are as good or better than what you're currently using, you should. Ideally, you should have the best available item in every slot (even if it's a blue, or even *gasp* a green item! Don't laugh, this happens sometimes!). Badges, PVP, and rep rewards are also a great way to get upgrades. This also means having money for repairs. Endgame raiding sometimes means wiping 10-15 times in 3 hours.

ENCHANTING/GEMMING YOUR GEAR
All members are expected to have their current gear augmented by having the best available enchants/gems/threads in them. There are many people in the guild that can help you with this. A lack of gemming/enchanting your gear is lazy and unacceptable. Don’t expect a guild full of people to help upgrade your toon if you can’t bother doing what you can on your own.

RAID CONSUMABLES
Everyone is expected to have proper consumables when raiding. Everyone is expected to either be using the BEST available flask or a guardian/battle elixir combo on non-farm boss fights. We have several alchemists in the guild that are more than happy to make you whatever flask or elixir you need.
Proper food buffs are required as well. Everyone is expected to be using the BEST available food buffs when working on progression fights. While the feasts are nice, do NOT rely on others to provide your food buffs. Bring a stack of your own.

CODE OF CONDUCT

SG is composed of many people with varying degrees of raid experience. This ensures that we all have our own opinions regarding how to approach a certain type of dungeon or other encounter. Differing opinions are fine as long as they are not disrespectful to others or their own opinions and are voiced in such a way as to promote constructive discussion. With this in mind:

Out of Guild Players: Members of SG will be expected to maintain a very mature and respectful attitude when grouping or raiding with out-of-guild players. Your behavior will reflect on the reputation of the guild and is taken very seriously. You are also asked not to participate in flame-fests in the non-guild chat channels and forums. It just lacks a certain level of professionalism even if the person being flamed deserves it.

Guild Members: By the same token, you will treat fellow guild members with respect at all times. This is not an encounter group and any public argumentative or derogatory remarks, no matter how justified they may be, will be met by the leaders of SG with EXTREME displeasure. Fair warning, treat your fellow guildies as you would expect to be treated.

VENT
There will be no random vent chatter after we are zoned into the instance unless the Raid Leader specifically calls a break. Vent chatter will cease after the first post-break ready check. Raid chat can be used and abused to your liking. The only talking on vent during pulls or boss fights is for information that is vital to the raid.

INITIATES
New members to the guild will start at an Initiate rank with limited privledges. Initiates will be evaluated for a month after they are invited to determine if he/she is suitable to remain with the guild. Members with a Raider rank or above will vote on whether an Initiate should be promoted after one month has past. The Initiate will then either be promoted or released from the guild depending on the results.

LOOT RULES
Soylent Green utilizes the SWAPS system to distribute loot from 25-man instances. Please refer to this link or ask an officer of the guild for more info.

http://www.boomchucka.com:8080/Uplink/aboutswaps.jsp

New initiates will not be able to bid on loot for a 2 week period after they join. They will only be able to take loot that nobody else wants for 100 dkp. If an initiate has been available for 100% of raids AND the officers approve of their performance then he/she will be able to start bidding on items normally after 2 weeks have passed.
